Jackie Robinson charity donations
We are deeply saddened to confirm that Jackie passed away in January 2017 following the diagnosis of a head tumour in late summer 2016.
Jackie spent her final months receiving all of our love and care, in her beautiful Church, in the heart of Brixham.
Jackie’s dream was to ‘live by the seaside’ and she succeeded. She loved living in the bay and and contributing to the town's success. With her work on the Church, and subsequently the Golden Hind Museum Ship, she had already made a huge impact, and we know that she would have done far, far more.
We know that Jackie would would have been pleased to have supported the following causes, and so we have started a fund to do just that:
1 ROWCROFT HOSPICE – Jackie and the family were supported by the specialist 'Hospice at Home' team, and they run the famous Torquay Hospice. They look after more than 2000 people annually.
2 BRIGHTER BRIXHAM - Donations towards flowers, furniture, plaques, benches, lights, painting, cleaning up and any other physical, permanent improvements to the seaside town in which Jackie spent the last five years of her life and which she loved.
3 PRIDE IN BRIXHAM. Funding for this volunteer group who have already created so many beautiful gardens out of unused spaces in Brixham.
4 BRAIN TUMOUR RESEARCH. The only national brain tumour charity dedicated purely to funding scientific research into all types of brain tumour.
ALL funds donated will be distributed in their entirety, in line with the above, one quarter to each of the above causes. Details and dates of all charity donations shall be listed on this charity page.
The Fund will be administered by Neil plus David Codling, friend of Jackie and Neil, and retired School Head of Design and Technology.
